How a table works

Every rule
of the table.

A room is a table: a few people, one deck, and one question. This is everything that can happen between opening it and knowing what’s for dinner.

Getting in

A code, a link
or a QR code.

Whoever opens the room is the host. Everyone else joins with the code, by tapping the link, or by pointing their camera at the host’s screen.

Room code

5 letters

No I and no O in it, so nobody mishears it across the room.

At the table

2–10

It takes two to start. The room stays open for more while you play.

Your name

20 characters

Whatever you want to be called tonight. No account behind it.

Your bear

12 to pick from

Ready-made bears for everyone. The full studio comes with an account.

Be there for the deal

A room closes once the host deals the cards, so everyone swipes the same deck. Running late? A household round waits for you.

Dropped out?

A drop of up to 10 seconds costs nothing. Your seat is kept for 60 seconds; after that the round carries on without you, which can complete a match or settle a vote.

LobbyThe host starts the round once at least two people are in.

The deck

Twenty cards.
Two directions.

The deck is dealt from every recipe that fits the table’s diets, no-gos and tonight’s vibe. Dishes other tables liked are dealt a little more often, and new recipes get reserved places so they get a first chance.

Cards

20

The same twenty for everyone at the table.

Right

Swipe right or tap the heart. With an account it is saved to your likes.

Nope

Left

Swipe left or tap the cross. Nobody finds out.

Details

Tap

The card flips to the ingredients, the servings and the number of steps. Diets, allergens and nutrition are on the front.

Your own deck

With an account, the host can deal the room from their likes or from a deck they put together themselves.

No peeking

You see how far along the others are. You never see which way anyone swiped.

SwipingYour progress and everyone else’s, top right.

The match

Not most of you.
All of you.

There is no compromise dish. The app waits until one recipe has a like from every single person, and the moment it does, that’s dinner.

A match needs

Everyone

Every person at the table has to have liked the dish. The first one that gets there wins.

Shown with it

★ and kcal

The average rating from people who cooked it, and approximate nutrition per serving.

From there

3 ways on

Open the recipe, share the result, or deal another course.

MatchThe host also gets the button that deals the next course.

No match

Deck finished?
Then you vote.

When everyone is through the deck and no dish got a like from all of you, the table chooses how to go on.

Who decides

Majority

Of the people still connected. You can change your vote until it is settled.

New deck

20 fresh

Twenty recipes none of you has seen tonight. Same rules.

Chef’s pick

Most likes

The dish your table liked most. With equal likes, the quicker recipe wins.

A tie

Host decides

When everyone has voted and it is even, the host’s choice counts.

The voteTwo for a new deck, one for the chef. New deck it is.

More courses

A match is not
the end of the menu.

The whole round runs again on a different part of the deck: sides, desserts or drinks. Same table, same diets and no-gos, same rule for a match.

Who deals

The host

After any match, from the match screen.

Courses

3

Side, dessert and drink. Each once per evening, in any order.

The menu

Adds up

Every match joins tonight’s menu. With an account, the whole menu goes into your history as one dinner.

A dry round

Nothing lost

If a follow-up deck runs out, the match you already had comes back.

Still hungry? What is left to add, as the host sees it.

Hungry and undecided?

Set the table.
Send the code.

Open a room, share the five letters, and let the swiping settle it. It runs in the browser of any phone.
