MunchMatch

Questions

What the table
will ask you

Is MunchMatch free?

Yes. No subscription, no ads between swipes, no credit card. Open the app, share your room, start swiping.

Do we need accounts?

No. One tap opens a room and gives you a link to share. A free account is optional: it saves every recipe you swipe right on, keeps your past dinners and opens households, the week plan and the friends feed.

How many people can swipe together?

Two to ten per room. Everyone swipes the same deck on their own phone at the same time.

Does it work with allergies and diets?

Yes. Each person sets their own no-gos (nine allergens) and diets (six, from vegetarian to high-protein). The deck only contains recipes that fit everyone at the table. Every card also says what it contains, in a line under the description.

Do we all have to download an app?

No. MunchMatch runs in the browser of any phone. Share the room link or the QR code and everyone is in within seconds. You can add it to your home screen if you want it to feel like an app.

What if we never match?

When everyone has finished the deck without a match, the table votes: a fresh deck of twenty new recipes, or the chef’s pick, which is the dish that collected the most likes.

Can we match more than one dish?

Yes. After a match the host can deal another round for a side, a dessert or a drink. Every match is added to tonight’s menu.

Does a match need everyone, or just most of us?

Everyone. A dish only wins when every person at the table has liked it. A majority is only used for the vote after a deck runs out.

Can someone join after we started?

Not a live room: it closes once the host deals the cards, so everyone swipes the same deck from the first card. Whoever is late is in for the next room. A household round is the one that waits: it stays open for 72 hours and everyone swipes when they have time.

What happens when someone’s connection drops?

A short drop costs nothing: for 10 seconds the table waits as if they were still there. After that the others no longer wait for them to finish the deck or to vote. Their seat is kept for 60 seconds in all; if they are not back by then, they leave the table and the round is looked at again without them, which can complete a match or settle a vote.

What if the vote is tied?

Once everyone has voted and it is even, the host decides.

How is the chef’s pick chosen?

It is the recipe with the most likes at your table. If two have the same number, the one that is quicker to cook wins.

Can I see what the others swiped?

No. You see how many cards each person has been through, never which way they swiped.

Can I swipe on my own?

Yes, three ways. Solo gives you one deck and a shortlist. Discovery is an endless deck that follows your taste. Duo lets two people share one phone.

What is a household?

A standing group of up to ten people, joined with a six-letter code. Anyone in it can deal a round for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Everyone swipes when they have time, and the result can go straight onto the shared week plan. Households need an account.

What if someone never gets round to swiping?

You can nudge them, settle the round with whoever has finished once two of you are through, or wait. After 72 hours an open round settles by itself with everyone who swiped at least one card.

Where do the recipes come from?

The deck is curated by us, with step-by-step instructions and nutrition values per serving, which are estimates. Players with an account can add their own recipes; those are reviewed before they are dealt.

Are the pictures real?

Pictures made by AI carry an AI chip in the corner. Players who cooked a dish can send in their own photo; a photo that is picked replaces the picture and is credited to them.

Who sees what I post?

Only you and the friends you accepted. There are no public profiles and there is no directory: friends find each other by exact username, invite link or QR code.

Do you track me?

The site uses cookieless analytics, which is why there is no cookie banner. The details are in the Datenschutz page.
